I was watching Fox News yesterday and they referred to Dick Cheney's shooting victim and they repeatedly said he had a "BB" in his heart. It wasn't just one person saying it. They went live to someone at the hospital where the victim is located and even she said "BB."
I noticed all the other news channels are referring to it as a pellet, birdshot, and other terms. Is Fox using beebee to make it sound very minor like a child's toy gun was used to shoot the man?
I just found it odd that they were using the word beebee. I've never heard any other news source using that word. Have you?
I can't believe every reporter for Fox is saying beebee. Someone had to tell them to all use that word. I just don't see that being a coincidence.
Examples of the news coverage:
ABC: Whittington, 78, suffered a mild heart attack Tuesday after a birdshot in his chest traveled to his heart, Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial officials said. He is still in the hospital's intensive care unit. A hospital spokesman said that was "strictly due to personal privacy issues," and that he was sitting up, eating regular food, and planning on doing some of his legal work today.
CBS: Whittington, a Texas attorney and Republican campaign contributor, remained in stable condition Wednesday after suffering a mild heart attack when a shotgun pellet in his chest traveled to his heart.
FOX: Whittington suffered a minor heart attack Tuesday morning due to a birdshot pellet that had migrated to his heart. Banko would not comment on how many BBs remained in Whittington's body, but said of the ammunition lodged in Whittington's heart, "We're 100 percent satisfied that where the BB is it will remain."
