This lady writes an opinion in our paper each week. Here is her stupid opinion:
Dems' politicking led to disaster Local voices
America has been "outed" by Katrina, and now the whole planet knows our ugly little secret. The richest, most powerful nation in the world has been hiding thousands of dirt poor humans in pockets of squalor in the very heart of one of our most popular tourist cities - New Orleans. The fact that this catastrophic hurricane, and then flood, decimated a portion of our country the size of Britain, has left us with more questions than answers. These horrendous events have also been fraught with socio-economic, cultural and political components. The political vultures, who have rushed in to exploit these disasters for political purposes, have further demoralized these tortured victims.
Many Democrats, liberals and wacko environmentalists have been perched on the sidelines playing the "blame game," instead of pitching in with compassion and elbow grease. These obstructionists can always be counted on to block progress, whether it's in feast or famine. Instead of recognizing the colossal, deadly blunders made by the Democratic woman governor of Louisiana prior to and during these disasters, Democrats are blaming President Bush for causing the hurricane. So much for God directing natural occurrences!
It's now an undisputed fact that Bush made an unprecedented move 48 hours prior to Katrina's arrival to target Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi for federal disaster relief. This is normally done after assessing a disastrous event - not before. Because of this smart, insightful move by Bush, federal troops were positioned 30 miles outside of New Orleans prior to Katrina's arrival, under the command of Gen. Russ Honore. They could not go into New Orleans until Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco gave the OK. I heard Blanco in a news conference say that she did not authorize the entrance of troops when needed because she wanted an extra 24 hours to think about relinquishing her authority to the feds. New Orleans Democratic Mayor Ray Nagin had at his disposal gassed-up yellow school buses that he should have sent into the ghetto to load up the "have-nots" and bus them out to safety in the boondocks. But he left them behind to walk miles to the Superdome instead.
The leader of the American Red Cross said on cable TV that these two Democrats advised the Red Cross to hold off on bringing in supplies when needed due to safety concerns. So, the Red Cross was forced to wait for military escorts. By the time these two inept, incompetent Louisiana Democrats allowed relief to enter their terrain, the flood from broken levees had inundated the area, and the local gangsters and hoodlums had taken over the city with looting, arson and mayhem. This terrorized the starving, water-soaked, poor evacuees who had been totally abandoned by their local government.
In contrast, I have not heard one report of adverse happenings of this sort in Mississippi, even though its entire coastline was literally pulverized by Katrina. But then Mississippi has a competent Republican governor who was front and center trying to save his people, not leave them to fend for themselves.
And to add insult to injury, there's the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton playing the race card for their own sick political purposes, peddling lies saying George Bush isn't interested in black people. These two charlatans need to get a life! The Bush administration is top-heavy with stellar black leaders doing a fantastic job. Obviously, it was New Orleans' black Mayor Nagin who overlooked the helpless black people left hopeless in the projects with no way out.
President Bush designated Friday as a National Day of Prayer for this disaster. This nation is so blessed to have a godly, Christian president who recognizes that the triune God of the universe is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent, with everything under his divine control. Knowing this keeps Katrina in perspective, and gives us all comfort for the long days ahead.

My letter will be published tomorrow. Keep in mind that I wrote this in 10 minutes. I didn't want to edit it because I wanted to get my anger across!
My letter:
In Monday's Jackson Sun (Sept. 19, 2005) I read Jessalyn Bailey's column which had me wondering what planet this lady has been living on recently! She said Democrats were blaming Bush for "causing the hurricane." I don't believe ANYONE has blamed him for CAUSING it; however, many people have faulted him for the extremely slow response. Did she not see the people sitting on top of their houses for 4-5 days? Even he has admited that the response was poor, and he even took responsibility for it. After spending the entire month of August on vacation, Bush finally (about two days after the hurricane struck I might add) decided to cut his vacation short and get back to work. The guy he hired to run FEMA was a former "Arabian horse judge" whom he actually told "Brownie you're doing a heck of a job." If the guy was doing such a great job, where is he now? Why was he called back to Washington? Why did he have to step down? The fact is that even four years after Sept. 11, America is no better prepared for a disaster or terrorist attack than we were before that tragedy. Maybe George W. Bush should spend more time actually doing his job and hiring people who actually have experience to do their jobs rather than taking month-long vacations in August. Maybe Ms. Bailey should stop putting her political party and leader above the country. I believe this country would be better off if people like her realized that just because a leader claims to be a "Christian" doesn't mean he can do no wrong. Many people followed Hitler with the same blind eyes that Ms. Bailey is displaying, and we should know better now. How dare she say that George W. Bush is "godly!" Does she not realize how dangerous and extreme this kind of speech is? I've seen many great people, but godly is a word I wouldn't use to describe any of them, especially George W. Bush! If God is that lazy and dumb, we're in a heck of a lot of trouble! While she's busy praying to Bush, maybe she should read her column again and realize that she has been had.
